Winter Oilseed Rape.
The national crop is so far averaging just over 4 t/ha with yields adjusted to 9% moisture content. This is up slightly on last year's average of 3.7 t/ha.
However, many of the results have indicated that the moisture content of the harvested crop has been 2 or 3 percentage points below the standard 9% and this may be why some have been disappointed by the yields. However, the open winter may not have favoured this crop as it allowed large canopies to develop which in turn produce smaller yields.
The mean yield so far from over 7500 hectares is 4 t/ha and there is little variation from the mean yield by region.

Winter Barley
The average yield from just over 4500 hectares is currently 8.7 t/ha adjusted to 14% moisture content. This is a considerable step up from last year's average of 7.7 t/ha. Comparing six to two row varieties shows little difference in yield this year.

Winter Wheat
Initial results show that the wheat crop this year is excelling itself with high yields, good bushel weights and reasonable protein content. The results we have are pre-Bertha and we can only hope that this storm has not taken the shine off the remainder of the wheat harvest.
The crop is currently averaging 10.4 t/ha with feed wheats out yielding other groups as expected. However, the quality wheats are also returning good yields to date.
