Gleadell launches nitrogen stabiliser
Gleadell Agriculture has launched PIADIN, a Nitrogen stabiliser for farm slurry and biofuel digesters that is added to the slurry in tanks to control the conversion of the stable ammonia Nitrogen of organic fertilisers into the mobile variant of nitrate Nitrogen to meet plant growth requirements.
“By using Piadin, the nitrogen from organic fertilisers will be available to the plant in the right place at the right time,” explains Calum Findlay, Gleadell Agriculture’s fertiliser trader. “Hence, by improving the nitrogen efficiency of organic fertilisers, the use of Piadin will facilitate higher yields and better quality. Other benefits include reduced operating costs and economy of labour though a single application.
“The product comes in a liquid formulation and is easy to use - you add and blend the liquid product straight into your storage container or your slurry tanker just before applying the slurry or biogas residues.”
Piadin can be mixed straight into a tank containing UAN solution before application and at much lower rates than products currently in the marketplace today. It can be easily sprayed using a conventional crop protection sprayer, and in combination with crop protection products, before applying the slurry or biogas residues with customary amounts of water.
The application rate depends on the type and amount of organic fertilisers as well as the crop and the date of application. The product comes in 1000ltr, 200ltr and 20ltr packaging and has an unlimited shelf. It can be stored at temperatures up to –20C without any crystallisation.
“Piadin is for sole distribution by Gleadell in the UK and is the first of a range of innovative products that Gleadell Agriculture will be involved in developing with SKW Piesteritz, who are the largest producer of urea and ammonia in Germany,” adds Mr Findlay.
