Farmers, researchers, industry professionals and policy makers will come together at the Future Grassland 2026 conference in Telford, UK on 11-12 November, to explore the latest ideas shaping the future of grassland farming in the UK and Ireland.

Organised by the British & Irish Society of Animal Science (BISAS) and the British Grassland Society (BGS), the two-day event will explore how grasslands can support productive yet sustainable livestock farming, while responding to changing environmental and economic pressures. Well managed grassland can make many positive contributions, be it providing high quality food, encouraging greater biodiversity and better soil health, or helping alleviate the consequences of flooding or drought.

 The programme brings together expertise from across the grassland and animal science sectors, including climate smart practitioner and innovator Professor John Gilliland OBE, Professor Iain Donnison, director of IBERS at Aberystwyth University and Judith Batchelor OBE, director of Food Matters International.

 "Future Grasslands has been designed to bridge the gap between research and practical farming, providing opportunities for farmers and the wider agricultural industry to hear directly from experts about the challenges and opportunities facing the sector," says Maggie Mitchell, CEO of BISAS.

 "Grassland plays such a vital role in UK ruminant livestock production. We hope this event will provide a valuable forum for sharing knowledge about how grassland can contribute, not only at a farm level, but by also ensuring future food security and greater environmental protection."

 Registration is now open for Future Grasslands 2026. The cost is £195 for BISAS and BGS members, £250 for non-members. The cost for students is £75.00.
