Frontier at LAMMA: Digital tools and on-farm innovation support optimised production

Frontier Agriculture will return to LAMMA to share advice with visitors on how to optimise decision-making and maximise the potential of their farm businesses.

With experts on stand from across Frontier’s different business areas, visitors to the show will be able to get advice on grain marketing strategies, learn more about accessing both public and private sector funding opportunities and discover the latest digital farm management tools and technologies.

Supporting future farm resilience

With the industry facing considerable changes from new and updated agricultural policy amidst ongoing environmental challenges and extreme weather events, farm business resilience is vital.

Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Steve Reed, acknowledged this last week in his speech at the 2025 Oxford Farming Conference. He stated that “Technology and innovation are vital for farmers to produce food sustainably – and profitably – into the future,” before announcing that the latest part of the Government’s Farming Innovation Programme, the ADOPT fund, will launch in the spring, though the value of it is yet to be confirmed. Commenting on the measure, Mr Reed said that it will “fund farmer-led trials to bridge the gap between new technologies and their real-world application.”

Confirmation of the commitment comes after a period of delay, but the move recognises the importance of technology in food production, particularly if farmers and the wider supply chain are to adopt new practices, monitor performance and take a more analytical view of production.

Live demonstrations of MyFarm

With technology front of mind, visitors to LAMMA will be able to see live demonstrations of Frontier’s digital farm management platform, MyFarm.

Housing a range of applications to support with everything from account management and grain trading to crop performance insights and business analytics, the platform supports growers to manage all aspects of their farm and use their crop production data to make evidence-based decisions around future management.

Experts from Frontier’s digital support team and SOYL precision business will be on hand to highlight a variety of applications, including lime recommendation tools, soil analysis, crop growth monitoring with biomass imagery, variable rate application plans and business analytics powered by YAGRO. Visitors can also learn about how MyFarm’s mapping functions can support with the management and recording of stewardship agreements and agri-environment scheme actions.

Improved safety and stewardship with Frontier’s closed transfer system

As well as digital solutions, Frontier’s team will also demonstrate its closed transfer system (CTS) on stand.

Previously featured in the 2024 LAMMA LIVE Demo Arena programme, the closed transfer system makes sprayer applications safer while ensuring crop protection products are used in a more sustainable way. An example of innovation developed by Frontier as part of the business’ wider sustainability strategy, ‘ The Responsible Choice ’, the closed transfer system protects the environment and operators from exposure,  optimises operations and reduces the use of plastic on farm.

“At last year’s show we had some great conversations about the equipment,” says Frontier CTS specialist, Nick Badger. “We had a lot of questions about the technology and visitors were keen to learn more about the practicalities of incorporating it on farm.”

Partnering with Richard Garnett of Wisdom Systems, the CTS is being increasingly adopted on-farm and Frontier’s team are pleased to work with a growing number of suppliers to increase the portfolio of compatible products.

Nick continues: “We’ve equipped more than 500 farms with the FastTran 850 closed transfer system to date and the compatible product range has expanded to include Stabilan (chlormequat), Roundup Energy (glyphosate) and a variety of nutrients, including Cearum.”

More recently, Frontier has partnered with Clayton Plant Protection to officially supply their Clayton Comply product in 300-litre IBCs for use with the CTS too.

“These growing partnerships signal a positive move for the industry and ongoing recognition from ag-chem suppliers that CTS is the right solution. We’re excited to demonstrate it on the Frontier stand at this year’s LAMMA show.”

LAMMA 2025 takes place at the NEC, Birmingham on 15th – 16th January. Visitors can find the teams from Frontier Agriculture, Kings Crops and SOYL on stand 520 in Hall 11.
