In the first  partner event of this kind to be held in the UK, H&H Land & Estates, Harrison & Hetherington, and the Global Leader in all things silage, Silostop Agri, have teamed  up to provide crucial insights into the latest information on silage and slurry grants, planning and regulations. Those attending will learn about grant funding which can assist with SSAFO compliance, and how to enhance silage quality with tips from Silostop.

Chaired by Glyn Lucas, Dairy Sales Manager for Harrison & Hetherington, Jonathan Hird, Associate and Chartered Surveyor at H&H Land & Estates, will give a short presentation on grants and planning concerns, and Jeremy Perkins from Silostop Agri, will discuss Silage best practices and benefits and the ingredients needed to bring you existing silages clamp operation up to date with the SSAFO Regulations.

Open to all farmers, this is an interactive evening about best practice and a great opportunity for farmers to discuss their concerns.   Free to attend and with a pie and pea supper, this seminar is taking place in Ring 4, Borderway Mart, Rosehill, Carlisle on Wednesday 6th March 2024 at 7pm.

H&H Land & Estates is the north's leading land agency, chartered surveyors, valuers, farm business advisory, and environmental specialists and Jonathan Hird said of the event: "We are very pleased to be able to offer this silage focussed evening in conjunction with partners Silostop Agri, who are the global leader in all things silage, from silage clamps to HOB silage films and covers."

"Many farmers are making generational investments in terms of farm improvements, and if they are starting from scratch, they need to understand the best practice for modern silage in terms of infrastructure, making and storing silage."

In terms of the detailed focus of the presentations, Jonathan Hird (H&H Land & Estates) will discuss Grant Funding for SSAFO Compliance including roofing silage pits, concrete yard renewal, soil testing under SFI, a requirement for EA inspections and FETF funding for slurry equipment.

Jeremy Perkins (Silostop Agri) will talk about Silage quality & compliance and  give detail on the SSAFO regulations as they affect silage clamp operation. He will also discuss the key point to consider when designing a new clamp or upgrading a clamp to meet SSAFO improvement notices from the EA, and the company's own solutions for silage clamps.

Following the short presentations there will be an opportunity for open questions to the panel and one to one discussions with individual farmers.
