Free lime calculator app launched
Calcifert Granulated Lime has launched a new mobile application to help farmers and growers calculate how much lime they need to balance soil pH and optimise yields.
The free application is designed for mobile devices and users simply enter soil type, current pH and crop type for individual fields. The calculator then provides a recommended application rate for both Calcifert Lime and conventional agricultural lime.
Talking about the launch of the mobile application Calcifert’s Commercial Director, Mick Stovin, said:
“We’ve developed our lime calculator app so users can work out how much lime they should apply to reach the optimum pH level of 6.5. Many people using conventional lime are applying two tonnes per acre, which often isn’t the amount required to move pH to the recommended levels.”
“The calculator provides an accurate application rate to get pH to 6.5 for both Calcifert Lime and standard agricultural lime. The figures may surprise many users as they highlight how low application rates are for Calcifert, making it a quick and cost effective way to balance soil pH.”
The app can be loaded onto any device that can access the internet and can be found at www.calcifert.co.uk/app. Users can also quickly create a shortcut button to the calculator on their home screen by following the instructions online.
