Visitors to Farming Online can now benefit from quotes on fuel prices from Rix Petroleum.

As rising input costs, particularly of fuel, are causing ripples in the farming world, Farming Online has teamed up with Hull-based family-owned heating oil and fuel supplier Rix to facilitate fuel provisioning for users.

The new service, which is accessible from the Farming Online home page, allows farmers to obtain fuel quotes for:

• Heating Oil
• DERV diesel
• Red Diesel

To obtain a free fuel quote, simply fill in the desired quantity and fuel type along with contact details in the Rix ‘Get a Quote’ box on the left-hand side of the Farming Online home page.

Concern over fuel costs in recent years led to an inquest into rising prices, their effect on farmers’ businesses and appropriate means of addressing the situation by European Parliament rapporteur José Bové last year. M Bové, a French Green MEP and former farmer, revealed in his report that rising costs of fuel in particular are eating into farmers’ margins and exposing them to shocks in the market.

Commenting on the new feature, Rix Marketing manager James Brook said, “It’s great to be able to offer farmers this facility in partnership with Farming Online. We’ve been fuelling farms for over 80 years and we know how busy our farmers are; the new quote tool hopes to save them time and offer them greater convenience.”
