Former NFU Chair allowed drugs to be grown on farm
John Shears, the former regional NFU chair whose farm was raided in May, has admitted that he allowed drugs to be grown on his property.
However, Shears denied a second charge of producing the drugs himself.
Police seized almost two-hundred cannabis plants in a raid on Shears' farm at Chagford, Devon
Shears was granted bail on Tuesday. His trial will be held next year at Exeter Crown Court. 26 year-old Daniel Perryman, who was also arrested in May, admitted producing drugs on the farm and will be sentenced after Shears' trial.
