ForFarmers grows robotics team with appointment of UK Robotics Performance Manager
Bas brings extensive knowledge of the robotic sector to the role, with over 25 years experience in the dairy industry, including time at ADAS and the Dairy Group. More recently he spent over 10 years as a robotic specialist at Lely, where he was responsible for overseeing and supporting the Lely Centers with new and existing installations in the UK and Ireland.
"I'm really looking forward to getting started in the role and working alongside the specialist robot team at ForFarmers," said Bas. "I've extensive experience in supporting new and existing robot installations having overseen over 500 set-ups. I'm looking forward to bringing this knowledge to our customers to help them understand the range of possibilities when it comes to robotics.
"From early on in my career when we first started to see robots come to the UK, I've always believed in the benefits that they offer farmers," explained Bas. "However, getting the best out of your robots can be a learning curve for many. It is great to be part of a team of Robotic Milking Specialists who can offer support and help our customers achieve results, whether you have just made the switch to robots or have a long-established unit."
Supporting farmers who are considering investing in robotic milking will also be an important part of Bas's role. "Having overseen so many new installations, I'm looking forward to offering advice throughout the whole process, from planning and decision-making through to installation and optimisation."
This holistic approach is what attracted Bas to ForFarmers: "The help the team offers goes beyond feed planning, diet advice, and costings, offering a 'one-stop-shop' for robotics support. This includes support with optimising the performance of robots and maximising the productive potential of the milking herd through the Robotic Analysis Programme, and the sharing of knowledge among robotic farmers with the Robotic Milking Club."
