Flagship Advanced Wireless Demo Unit arrives at Hartpury Farm
Hartpury University and Hartpury College are making history with the arrival of a state-of-the-art Advanced Wireless Demo Unit at their commercial Home Farm. Designed and built by engineers at Jet Connectivity, this cutting-edge installation officially launched yesterday (9 October).
This cutting-edge advancement will serve as an educational platform showcasing how advanced wireless capabilities including LoRaWAN, Starlink and 5G can benefit the work of rural or farm businesses right now - regardless of how remote.
The flagship facility will create an exclusive offering within Hartpury's Digital Innovation Farm, providing access to the latest farming technologies, and their supporting networks, to visitors from across the UK.
The demo unit will enable first-hand learning of how to create wider coverage and ultra-fast speeds to support advanced farming applications such as animal monitoring, crop sensing, and remote vehicle control, enhancing safety and efficiency.
Those who are interested can experience what this project has to offer via one of Hartpury's Farm Forward Demo Events.
This power-efficient platform, the first of many solutions arriving to Hartpury Agriculture, is supported by the River Severn Partnership Advanced Wireless Innovation Region (RSPAWIR) project.
Hartpury University and Hartpury College are renowned for delivering high-quality agricultural education across a range of T Levels, diplomas and degrees, and have been praised for their leading role in local growth and regeneration. This is largely due to its relationship with business, meeting skills needs and knowledge exchange through research.
