Five unusual exhibits at Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show
With such a wide variety of machines and exhibits to see at this year's Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show, there are bound to be those that are more unique. With machines from different backgrounds and their own stories and history, the show has got a lot more on offer than you might think.
Here are five of the more unusual exhibits that will be on show at the Newark Showground on 7-8 November.
Rare Waterloo Boy heads to Newark as one of Britain's oldest John Deere tractors
One of the rarest machines at this year's show could also be one of the oldest John Deere tractors in Britain.
Harry Williams will be bringing his Waterloo Boy to the show, where it will take pride of place on the John Deere stand as the company celebrates 60 years in the UK.
"It's one of the early ones," says Harry. "We're not 100% sure it's the oldest John Deere in Britain, but nobody has come forward to say they've got an older one. If anyone has, I'd love to hear about it."
Raffle prize Barry the David Brown heading to Newark
After entering a raffle held by Yorkshire farmers and content creators the Blakey Brothers back in August, Karen Mudford had no idea that she would then become the proud owner of a 1961 David Brown 950.
Now, since documenting her journey with the tractor on her social media page 'Later Better Than Never', Karen is taking the machine she affectionately calls Barry to the Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show.
"There's a general interest in Barry thanks to social media and his connection to the Blakey Brothers," says Karen. "After doing charity road runs and even farmed with him, I thought this show would be a good place to show him off."
Blakey Brothers to unveil rare grey and gold Ferguson
The Blakey Brothers will be at the show as very special guests, unveiling a striking grey and gold Ferguson FE-35 in the George Stephenson Exhibition Hall at 11am on Saturday 7 November.
The iconic Fergie will then stay on display at Newark Showground for the rest of the weekend, courtesy of John Plowright and the Friends of Ferguson Heritage.
The event is part of marking six major anniversaries in the Ferguson and Massey Ferguson story, spanning from the Ferguson Model A in 1936 through to the Massey Ferguson 3000 Series in 1986.
Model N returns to Newark 30 years after Fordson 500 appearance
Thirty years ago, the Fordson 500 event at the Newark Showground marked the largest gathering of Ford and Fordson Tractors ever recorded. Three decades on, one of the participating tractors returns as part of 30th anniversary celebration at this year's Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show.
In 2012, farmer John Redfern came into possession of a 1942 Fordson Model N from a farm collector's sale, initially unaware of the history behind this machine. It wasn't until after he had purchased the tractor that John was informed that it was one of the tractors shown on the New Holland stand at the Fordson 500 in 1996.
"Aside from one or two little pieces that needed doing, this tractor has remained in lovely condition since New Holland restored it 30 years ago," says John. "It will be great to exhibit this historic machine as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Fordson 500."
One of the last remaining Lister Autotrucks to be exhibited at Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show
Before the advent of the forklift truck, the Lister Autotruck was commonplace in factories and markets across the country to move goods around. Now with only two of these historic machines left, one of them will be exhibited at this year's show.
With three wheels and 3.5 horsepower, a 1965 Lister Autotruck was bought and restored by Ken Hastie, who drove Autotrucks decades earlier in the fish markets of North Shields. After exhibiting at shows across the North-East over the last half-decade, the Lister Autotruck makes its way to the Newark Showground.
"The Autotruck always generates a lot of interest," says Ken. "I have an information board that is displayed with it, and people always stop, have a read and ask questions.
"When I heard about the Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show, I thought it would be another good opportunity for people to see my Autotruck and learn a bit about it and its history."
