The first winter barley variety trial results have been published by HGCA. These early results from the Suffolk site show an overall increase in barley yield this year.

However, not all varieties have outperformed last year's results from this site; Flagon and SY Venture gave slightly higher yields last year.  But others such as Cassata and Mezmaar have shown a 13% increase in yield over last year. KWS Glacier and KWS Cassia have also yielded significanly above last season's results.
