Fertiliser Market Report: Prices static on quiet markets

Calum Findlay, Gleadell’s fertiliser manager, comments on the fertiliser markets

Ammonium nitrate

The market has continued to trade sideways as growers’ attentions have turned to harvest. GrowHow has held its terms at current levels, providing an opportunity to take advantage of some attractive terms before prices do eventually increase.

Imported AN is offered for delivery in August/September but prices reflect rises already seen in Europe.

Urea

Egyptian production problems have been reported and these will continue throughout August and September.

The global market has remained quiet. Limited tonnes have been sold onto UK farms. Urea currently on offer is on open origin basis. While prices are below replacement values and may look attractive, check guarantees of origin.

NPK

The UK market remains slow for autumn PKs but, as crops are harvested, buyers will return and prices are likely to increase to reflect the cost of raw materials.
