Fertiliser Market Report: PK commitments lag behind last year
Calum Findlay, Gleadell’s fertiliser manager, comments on the fertiliser markets
All PK fertiliser commitments are well behind autumn 2014 and after a bright start in the June–August period, nitrogen sales are now also starting to fall well behind normal.
With some very high harvest yields being reported across the UK, to avoid replacing P and K could prove to be a very costly mistake as soil indices fall and the available nutrients become well short of a crop’s requirements.
With temperatures now falling and little benefit to be gained by spreading P and K now the application of an NPK in the spring should now be considered.
