A Twitter account - #Februdairy - has been set up to share some of the pro-dairy content.

Dr Capper said:"#Februdairy will be one month of dairy people posting, liking and retweeting examples of what we do and why we do it."

Dr. Capper wants farmers to show images and videos to counter anti-dairy sentiment.

She said: " Often with people who oppose the dairy industry, if they can't see it physically, they won’t believe that negative things aren’t happening – so short videos are perfect and we can all create them."

Noting that people online have already started hijacking the hashtag - using it to promote a pro-vegan message she advises farmers to answer and engage with 'sensible' questions, but shouldn't reply to everybody as 'some people who are rude or get personal will not be reasoned with' .

Sh says on the twitter account:" I have been amazed by the intolerance and hate shown by activists opposed to over the past two weeks. Civilisation is founded upon peaceful co-existence, yet the degree of intolerance towards omnivorous diets has been staggering. Celebrate and diversity!"

Dairy UK, AHDB and The Dairy Council also recently launched a joint initiative called ‘Tell it Like it is’ to help farmers communicate to consumers the nutritional benefits of dairy.

The ‘Tell it Like is’ website provides dairy farmers the tools to promote the nutritional benefits of dairy to consumers of all ages via social media, along with guidance and knowledge to support them in effectively communicating their messages.
