Comparing average yield data for winter barley and oilseed rape submitted to the Harvest Results (5000ac so far) during the first three weeks of 2018 vs 2017, neutralising factors such as the earliness of harvest:

• Overall winter barley average yields have swung during the last 7 days from 9.5% down to 3.84% up providing early indications that barley may have recovered ground on the later land.
• Oilseed Rape is a different story with average yields 20% below 2017, showing that the drought has potentially had a much more dramatic effect, although the later land results are only just arriving.
