Former farming minister David Heath has been replaced after just one year in the job.

It is thought Heath, MP for Somerton and Frome, will be replaced by fellow Cornish Lib Dem MP Dan Rogerson as the leaders of all three major political parties reshuffle their cabinets.

Although it is uncertain whether Rogerson or Conservative MP George Eustice, also promoted to Defra in Monday's reshuffle, will take on Mr Heath's brief, both Heath and former fisheries minister Richard Benyon lost their positions on Monday morning.

Downing Street has not made an official announcement about Heath, but a Liberal Democrate spokesperson told food industry magazine The Grocer that Rogerson would be replacing the former minister.

In the Labour Party, Mary Creagh was replaced as Shadow Defra Secretary by Maria Eagle, MP for Garston.
