The National Farmers' Union is warning that flooding is becoming increasingly common and could risk food production.

Farmers have suffered thousands of pounds of losses after crop fields were deluged this year.

The union is calling for a long term solution that doesn't just protect urban areas.

James Copeland from the National Farmers Union said:

"What we're seeing is that water coming down the system and as a result flooding large areas of farmland. Now that's predominantly at the moment protecting the towns and cities but at the moment unless that water can get away it will impact those businesses."
