Event to attract keen young agriculturalists

A rise in young people seeking a career in agriculture is being recognised by event organisers of this year's Livestock Event, stages at Birmingham's NEC on third and fourth of July.

'Careers in Agriculture' is the brainchild of RABDF who will be putting on a range of things to attract young people into a land based career.

The feature will offer some fresh ideas in employment opportunities including a series of 11 presentations entitled ‘a day in the life of’ to help guide visitors, and in particular students, on the wide range of jobs within the sector,.

Careers from herd management to agricultural banking, and agricultural engineering to nutrition, there is something for every asprining agriculturalist. Additional sessions will focus on use of social media to get a job and the CV, the dos and don’ts as well as how to put together a business plan.

RADBF's Nick Everyington said, “The livestock sector offers huge opportunities not only for the current, but the next generation,”

“Careers in Agriculture is a new feature for the event which is designed to enable visitors to find out more about the skills and resources required, together with the dedication, enthusiasm and tenacity that is essential for success in the agricultural sector.”

This pro-active approach will hopefully inspire the next generation of farmers into land based career no matter what their background or capabilities.
