EuroTier 2024: Weidemann presents innovations
Next level - Weidemann performs a full relaunch of the wheel loaders and telescopic wheel loaders.
The current LP models are becoming part of the 60 series at Weidemann.
For a number of years, Weidemann has been successful within the farming and equine sector, as well as the municipality sector and industry with the powerful wheel loaders and telescopic wheel loaders of the current Low Position (LP) series. These machines have been redeveloped, resulting in Weidemann bringing six new models to market. The new models: 2060, 2060T, 3060, 3060T, as well as 4060 and 4060T replace the current LP models and are well graded according to their performance and machine size. The important features, like a small design, low centre of gravity and powerful performance, have been consistently maintained in the new machine series.
“With the new Weidemann 60-series models, we are offering the ideal gradation in terms of machine size and performance. Our aim was to develop robust and reliable working machines for a large population of different operations. A sound revision and captivating power in combination with a smart price position the 60 series on the market,” the Commercial Director Bernd Apfelbeck described the redevelopment and focus of the whole series.
The 60-series models are optionally available with a boom or telescopic arm. The machines provide customers with a lot of new features and options for customisation and needs-based daily working. Furthermore, the products have been developed in accordance with the modular design, which also provides a lot of benefits, both in terms of operability and serviceability.
An overview of the 60-series’ innovations:
The very spacious cabin with its excellent provision of space for the operator is a particularly striking feature of the 60 series. The 4-pillar cabin design in conjunction with the panoramic rear windscreen and the slanted engine bonnet provides a very good view to the rear. The field of vision of the immediate working area, both to the front and to the rear, has been optimised.
- Furthermore, the cabin provides a high degree of user-friendliness and comfort. The entry has been made larger to make the entry and exit clearly more comfortable and safer. All control elements are within reach. The panel with the integrated multi-functional joystick provides very good clarity. The colour-oriented operating concept established by Weidemann ensures the machine’s quick and clear handling. Many of the new storage options, incl. the mobile phone holder with a charging option, ensure the corresponding well-being factor.
- The efficient ventilation and heating system has been oriented to the new cabin. The improved air-flow ensures a comfortable working climate. With the ventilation slits it is possible to easily source fresh air. In addition to this, a powerful air-conditioning system is also provided.
- Weidemann has paid particular attention to a low level of noise development within the cabin, which makes it possible to concentrate when working and protects the operator’s health. The control valve for the work hydraulics was positioned in the front carriage and particular attention was paid to optimisation of the hose routing.
- When motorising the 60 series, Weidemann has used a consistent engine generation by Kohler of the exhaust emission Stage V with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC). It was possible to adapt the engine power to the new models through the electronically controlled drive system ecDrive and the powerful torque curve, as a result it is powerful, while simultaneously being fuel-efficient.
In doing so, the engine power is naturally optimally coordinated to the respective models. The models are available with the following engines: 2060/2060T with 57 hp/42 kW, 3060/3060T with 65 hp/48kW and 4060/4060T with 75 hp/55.4 kW. For an increased range, the diesel tank has been increased to 80 litres. When shaping the tail, value was placed on a good slope angle.
- Especially for the ecDrive, four different operating modes were used: the Auto Mode (100% performance), Eco Mode (reduced torque for economical operation with noise reduction) as well as optionally one of the two other available modes for the use of hydraulically-operated attachments or the optimised execution of Y-load cycles.
- A drum brake with a manual parking brake is installed as standard. A disc brake with an electric parking brake is optionally available. This activates when the brake pedal is engaged or the operator leaves their seat. The hold-function prevents the machine’s undesired rolling away. The electric parking brake is disengaged when the accelerator is engaged. It provides the operator and their working environment with maximum safety and comfort. With the use of the electric parking brake, the machine can be efficiently operated.
- A benefit to this is that the engines are installed transversely. The intake of air occurs from the right-side of the vehicle and the waste heat is emitted to the left. As a result, it is possible to reduce temperature development from engine heat within the cabin, it is therefore low impact. With the transverse installation of the engine, serviceability is also optimised. All service points are freely accessible, like the oil dipstick, oil filter, fuel filter, refilling of engine oil, hydraulic oil and windscreen wash. To clean the radiator, it can be very simply opened.
- The middle hinge was redesigned for the series. The hydraulic hoses are held on both sides and guided through the centre of the hinge, which has led to an improved durability when subject to hard, continuous use.
- On the right side of the machine, Weidemann has applied a central service cover, bundled behind this are all machine fuses and the air filter. Directly below this is the battery and the circuit breaker, which are also easily accessible from outside. The lockable toolbox is on the left side of the machine, directly at the entrance so that it is easy to manage from standing.
- The 60-series’ lift heights are between 3.24 and 3.70 m for the wheel loaders. The view of the coupling points of the quickhitch plate and the attachments have been optimised with the design of the booms. A greater lift height is generated with the telescopic wheel loaders of between 4.30 and 5.04 m.
- The series provides a lot of options to make the everyday working life significantly easier, like a rear-view camera and the pressure release of the 3rd control circuit. An added bonus in terms of safety is the optional immobiliser. Weidemann positions the rear-view camera on the rear, top cabin edge so that the area to the back is very visible.
- Especially for the 4060T: With the Lowering Assistant, the telescopic arm is automatically retracted when lowering. When extracting large loads, the machine has greater stability and relieves the operator as a result of this system. A benefit to this: the joystick slider need not be constantly activated when retracting or lowering the loading system.
The complete revision of the new Weidemann wheel loader and telescopic wheel loader models of the 60-series have been rounded off with a face-lift with dynamic, striking lines on the engine bonnet and the cabin. The new models open up a large range of targeted equipment options to many operations.
The new 60 series by Weidemann has been awarded the German Design Award 2025 in the Excellent Product Design - Utility Vehicles category. Weidemann 60-series customers will be able to use wheel loaders and telehandlers, which fulfil the following criteria, in particular the dimensions: extensive functions corresponding to the application target, appealing product design (design and ergonomics), good series design, efficient applicability for the user, consideration of application and work safety, as well as a high level of environmental sustainability. The jury of the renowned German Design Council has provided their assessment and a sophisticated and holistic view of the product.
