EU Pig Prices: Prices unchanged but demand increased
Accordnig to German industry group ISN, the situation in the European mature pig market continues to be unsettled. Although certain individual states appear to be enjoying a well balanced market situation, others are still reporting fluctuations.
Quotations this week moved sideways in Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Austria and Ireland. Supply and demand are reportedly steady in these states.
Prices rose by 1 cent in the Netherlands. Prices are going up in the Netherlands, though the numbers of pigs slaughtered has fallen over the past six months compared to the same period in 2012.
In France and Spain, prices remained weak.
ISN said that, in those countries enjoying balance, either stable or slightly increased prices look to be in store for producers.
