EU pig prices: Prices remain steady on a high
The European pigs-mature-for-slaughter market remains stable this week;’ continuing a trend of balance which has seen prices steady, high returns for producers.
German producers’ organisation ISN said domestic prices had not changed for a number of weeks, which has maintained prices in surrounding countries. ISN said the German market no longer appears to be undersupplied, but instead looks well balanced.
However, in Denmark, prices rose after a period of stability; Danish producers are now seeing prices higher than their Dutch counterparts. In Britain, too, prices rose a little. Spain still remains the success story of the year so far. The country currently ranks first of the five major EU producers.
ISN predicted a continuation of relatively stable prices, as the trend for balance is set to continue.
