EU pig prices: limited supplies keep prices high
This week, the European mature pigs market has remained steady. Most quotations in the EU have moved sideways after rises in recent weeks. Owing to the heat, the quantities of pigs on offer remain scarce all over Europe.
French pig keepers noted a moderate price increase (up a corrected 1.7 cents) and quotations went up a little in Spain as well, on tight supplies. However, Last week's price increases were withdrawn in the Netherlands and in Belgium. There, quotations corrected slightly downwards.
Elsewhere, prices remained level, which German group ISN forecast would continue to be the case at least for the next week, "In view of vivid demand for live pigs". ISN said "The meat business is expected to stabilise with the new month beginning and the holidays ending in some… states."
