On Wednesday, the EU Commission announced plans to renationalise rules on importing genetically modified (GM) crops into the EU. The move, which is similar to compromise measures that allow member states to make their own decisions on whether to grow the controversial crops, has been criticised by pro- and anti- GM groups alike.
