Dairy industry leads way for next generation
A new scheme has been launched to encourage young people and students to get involved and work in the dairy industry.
Dairy Pro is a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme where training, events and skills are registered and recognised enabling members to record achievements from events that can be linked to production, business management, environment, grassland management, health & welfare, nutrition, personal development and legislation.
Following recent rows over the milk price and an uncertain future in the dairy industry, the scheme aims to equip young dairy professionals with not only traditional skills but also up to date business management, health and welfare among other skills to try and meet the needs of the dairy industry in the future.
The launch will happen at this year’s Livestock 2012 Event on 4th and 5th September at the Birmingham NEC (stand BM231).
While the aim is at student and young people, there are three membership categories:
· Student- new entrants to the industry with less than 12 months experience or a student
· Member – dairy farmer or employee within the dairy industry for greater than 12 months
· Associate – dairy industry 3rdparty
