Young Farmers have re-elected Farming Today presenter Charlotte Smith as NFYFC President for a second year during the Annual General Meeting in Blackpool.
Charlotte said that it had been an “honour and a joy” to be NFYFC’s President.
“I have now survived two Conventions and I have learnt that I really can’t keep up with you and I’m not even going to try anymore,” said Charlotte, who is also a regular presenter on Countryfile. “I am delighted to be invited to so many different events and although a lot of the time I can’t come because I’m working, please keep on inviting me as I’ll attend what I can. I am so glad to be part of this organisation.”
Charlotte thanked the NFYFC staff team for the support they had given her over the past year and also gave a special mention to former NFYFC Chair Ed Ford.
“I have spent a year watching this man work his butt off for this organisation,” said Charlotte. “He is a Young Farmer to his core and it has been an absolute joy and a privilege to work with him.”
Charlotte also reminded the packed room that they had until Tuesday to give their opinions to Defra on the future of British farming.
