Visitors will be able to get expert advice from almost 40 leading and innovative companies grouped together in the Renewables Area at the event, which takes place on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th June at Boothby Graffoe, Lincolnshire.
Power Generation
Farmers looking to generate power will be able to discuss a wide range of technologies, including biomass boilers, biogas plants, wind turbines and solar panels. Others wishing to grow crops on contract will also be able to explore a range of options on offer.
Drax Power Limited returns as sponsor of the Renewables Area. “The growing importance of on-farm renewables is reflected in this dynamic and growing area of the Cereals Event,” says Rob Wood, biomass buyer at Drax. “We are delighted to be involved as sponsor and look forward to another busy event.”
Spectrum Energy Systems, which specialises in design, supply and installation of wind turbines and solar systems to farmers, is launching the Tozzi Nord 10kW wind turbine, said to be ideal for low-wind speed sites, which previously would have been considered unsuitable for a wind turbine.
Spectrum also supplies 100kW-500kW turbines and specialises in remanufactured machinery, all Ofgem-approved to receive the Feed-in Tariff with full warranty and support packages.
Visitors to the Evance stand can discover the average wind speed for their property location and therefore the potential electricity generation and financial benefits of the R9000 turbine, helping them to lock down energy costs for 20 years.
A demonstration model of the R9000 will also be on the stand and is designed to deliver maximum energy generation yet flexible in terms of location and connection.
Eco2 is offering new market opportunities for straw-producing farmers by purchasing biomass to supply the new Sleaford 40MW straw-fired power station and other planned projects. The company, which specialises in developing, financing and operating renewable energy projects, provides long-term, secure contracts for straw and other biomass.
EWT will demonstrate that even inaccessible sites can support a wind turbine, thanks to its special transportation frame that can navigate narrow British roads. Last year EWT installed 40 wind turbines in the UK, some of which required the new piece of kit. The firm’s Directwind range includes a 500kW and a 900kW turbine.
BioG is launching a BioChipper machine for the UK market. Designed to maximise the value of straw and its potential, the 6m-wide BioChipper runs over combinable stubbles, chopping and swathing straw in one pass and can cover 4ha/hr. The swath can then to be picked up or baled. Straw can be used as feedstock in AD plants or it can also be baled as bedding for animals or as fuel for biomass.
BioG UK is also offering joint ventures and contract farming options to help develop AD plants in the UK.
Wind Turbines
Earthmill, which supplies, installs and maintains wind turbines from 6kW to 750kW, is seeking sites to rent and install turbines. Farmers will receive rent and Earthmill will benefit from the government’s Feed-in Tariff scheme. Clients can also buy and operate turbines.
Sitec Infrastructure Services Ltd is also seeking sites to rent, for individual 250 – 500kW turbines. As well as advising on site suitability staff can answer questions about feasibility surveys, wind predictions, electrical connection, likely generation figures, payback timescales and finance options.
New Energy Farms, the leading supplier of energy grasses for renewable energy projects in the EU and North America, will talk about its new development, Ceeds. This is a new concept in low-cost, reliable planting material to establish plantations that can reduce current planting costs by about 50%.
Anaerobic Digestion developer Qila Energy offers design-and-build as well as operation services, and will be promoting two packages. One offers full ownership of its efficient and proven German 2-stage AD technology from the start; the other funding for planning permission and for the AD build after which the site is leased out with an option to buy back after a couple of years.
EnviTec Biogas is offering bespoke packages that deliver significant, predictable income from its farm-scale anaerobic digestion units that turn crops and waste into heat and electricity. The company will plan, build, commission and service as required.
A Windcrop small wind turbine can provide a source of free electricity for 20 years, says the company. Windcrop will be offering two options – Save, where the company installs and maintain turbines for 20 years free of charge while customers benefit from free electricity and Earn, where customers invest in a turbine and benefits from all the energy generated plus the Feed-in Tariff.
Green Energy Advice
Several other companies are keen to advise visitors on a range of green energy issues.
The Farm Energy Service offers NFU members independent advice and guidance on a range of energy issues including solar panels, wind energy, energy contracts and grid connections. It also provides assistance with legal queries, planning, finance and insurance.
Green Generation is promoting its complete service - system specification, planning and grid connection applications, through to final commissioning – when supplying wind turbines from Evance, Endurance, Gaia, Northern Power, WES and Westwind.
JL Phillips Renewable Energy, installer of Nibe heat pumps, Kingspan Solar Systems and Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump, will be fielding experts from its team to answer queries and provide advice on installation choice and maintenance.
Mosscliff Environmental specialises in commercial scale wind turbines and solar PV systems and provides independent advice to customers. Visitors can find out how to tighten up on bills, attract additional revenue streams and demonstrate green credentials.
RenEnergy offers a wide range of renewable products including heat pumps, biomass boilers and solar thermal technology. The company offers advice and a full range of services including feasibility services, planning, design, installation and maintenance and monitoring.
Watt Energy provides a single point of contact for advice, design and installation across all renewable technologies, using experienced engineers. This, says the firm, ensures costs for a full turnkey solution are known early on.
Lark Energy focuses on financing, developing and installing large-scale, commercial solar projects as stand-alone energy assets and for clients and partners. Projects cover all sizes of systems from large, utility-scale solar farms through on-roof commercial systems to multi-roof housing projects.
After four years of monitoring all 430 customers Carbon Legacy is proving the point that quality counts. By supplying the best solar panels, heat pumps and biomass boilers from Germany, America and Austria it says only minimal call backs have been required, meaning customers get the best return on their investments.
Tickets for Cereals 2013 cost £23 each (£19 for students) and are available at www.cerealsevent.co.uk
Visitors qualify for 2 NRoSO points and 4 BASIS points for attending either day. In addition, there is the chance to earn 2 NRoSO points and 1 BASIS point when visiting the chlorpyrifos Say NO to DRIFT stewardship display on the Dow AgroSciences stand.
