Carr’s Billington grows technical expertise with new appointment

Carr’s Billington has appointed David Howard, a well-respected name in the dairy sector, as sales and technical manager for the Midlands and Wales.

Mr Howard brings a wealth of knowledge from the industry, having headed up the dairy division at Wynnstay for the past five years and spent a further 12 years in dairy consultancy roles across the UK.

Working alongside chief technical officer Jimmy Goldie and technical manager Ruth Lawson, Mr Howard says he is excited to be joining a well-established and experienced team, with farmers central to business decision-making.

“I’ll be based close to the Carr’s Billington mill in Staffordshire, so the role offers a great opportunity to help strengthen our presence in our southern regions,” Mr Howard says.

Mr Howard has spent the last decade honing his expertise in robotic dairy farming systems and says he is eager to apply this knowledge in his new role.

“Joining at such a pivotal point for the whole farming industry means a large part of my role will involve supporting farmers to futureproof their businesses, for instance, investing in new robotic milking technology or improving efficiencies in their existing operations,” he says.

“I’m a firm believer that sustainability isn’t just about addressing environmental concerns but also improving the bottom line for farm businesses.”

Ryan Whyte, feed sales director at Carr’s Billington, says Mr Howard brings with him extensive experience in ruminant nutrition.

“David’s primary focus will be on enhancing our technical capabilities and supporting feed sales development in the southern regions.

“He will play a key part in driving growth, supporting our customers and ensuring continued delivery of high-quality service in these areas.”
