Speaking after the theft of 10 cattle from Bodorgan, inspector Guy Blackwell said, “We are asking members of the farming community to be mindful. Those responsible would have needed a large cattle transporter to move the animals and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area to contact us.”

According to rural insurers NFU Mutual, crime against farmers rose 17 per cent last year. So far this year livestock theft is said to have cost the farming industry £5 million.

North Wales police said anyone with information on thefts in the region, of which the cattle rustling occurred between 5th and 15th November, should call 0845 6071001 (Welsh line) or 0845 6071002 (English line).
