British dairy delegation investigates potential for international growth

The NFU has said Britain has what it takes to become a major international dairy player as a delegation from the union heads to Japan to explore the opportunities for the British dairy industry on the international market.

NFU dairy board chair Mansel Raymond and chief dairy adviser Rob Newbery will visit Japan to take part in the International Dairy Federation annual dairy conference in Yokohama. The NFU delegation will also discuss the voluntary code, which came into force last year to govern relationships in the dairy supply chain.

Mr Raymond said on Monday, "The British dairy industry is looking for opportunities to grow, and the international market has huge potential for us. Our produce is world renowned, and we will be looking to push the message that we are ready to become major players on the world stage when we are out there."

"We are also keen to explore new technologies and tools that will be beneficial to the industry, as well as sharing our examples of best practice that will improve others."
