Brian Chambers Trophy Awarded to Marek Stefun
BASIS is pleased to announce that Marek Stefun has been awarded the Brian Chambers Trophy as the highest-rated, 2025 FACTS candidate (Fertiliser Advisers Certification and Training Scheme). The award recognises outstanding achievement in nutrient management and highlights professionals who demonstrate strong technical knowledge and commitment to sustainable agriculture.
Marek works as a Grower at The Summer Berry Company, where he is involved in the production of strawberries and cane fruit. He joined the business as an irrigation manager before being promoted to his current role.
Originally from Slovakia, Marek studied agriculture in Prague before gaining experience in dairy, beef and equine farm management. After moving to the UK in 2017, he completed an MSc in Agricultural Economics at the University of Reading. He later gained practical experience in fruit and vegetable production in Kent before joining The Summer Berry Company.
Marek completed the FACTS Horticulture qualification, training with Graham Bryant at Growtrain. Reflecting on the award, he highlighted the importance of improving precision in crop nutrition and water management to support both farm productivity and environmental sustainability.
"I feel honoured to receive the Brian Chambers Trophy. I would like to thank my trainer Graham Bryant at Growtrain and my colleagues at The Summer Berry Company for their support throughout the course."
