Clear Dip and Bimeda Announce Exceptional Trial Results Demonstrating highly effective Removal of Diazinon from Waste Sheep Dip

The Clear Dip team are pleased to announce exceptional results from trial work to develop a safe and sustainable solution for the disposal of waste sheep dip.

The innovation has been supported by Bimeda Animal Health Ltd, and trial work has been funded through the Farming Innovation Programme’s ADOPT initiative, delivered by Innovate UK in partnership with DEFRA, which supports farmer-led, on-farm innovation projects across UK agriculture.

A total of nine trials have demonstrated that the Clear Dip treatment process, which uses a novel filtration system, achieved highly effective and consistent removal of diazinon from waste sheep dip. The results represent an important milestone in the development of a practical, on-farm or point-of-use treatment approach.

The project, first announced in November 2025, aims to reduce the environmental risks associated with disposal of spent sheep dip and address the growing challenges faced by sheep farmers and commercial dipping contractors in accessing licensed disposal facilities. By enabling treatment on farms or at the point of use, the technology has the potential to significantly reduce environmental risk while supporting sheep welfare and continued access to effective sheep scab control.

“These results are extremely encouraging and demonstrate the strong performance and consistency of the Clear Dip process. Achieving this level of diazinon removal under practical farm conditions represents an important technical milestone and gives us confidence that the
technology can provide a practical route towards more sustainable sheep dip disposal. Our focus now is to work with regulators, industry stakeholders and funders to identify practical and affordable pathways towards wider deployment and scale-up.

Clear Dip Technology and Bimeda are attending the NSA Sheep Event at Malvern on 28th July and plan to host workshops showcasing the technology, trial results and updates on scale up.
