BGS-DairyCo-EBLEX join forces to deliver seminars at Grassland UK

BGS, DairyCo and EBLEX are organising a diverse programme of technical seminars to run in 30-minute slots at Grassland UK this year. This much-respected one-day triennial show returns to the Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset on 7 May.

The seminars will be of interest to farmers, advisers and anyone else with a keen interest in grassland management.

“We’ve thought about what’s influencing the industry at present, what’s pertinent to business success, and what grassland farmers need to know right now,” says Charlotte Evans, technical project manager at BGS.

“We’ve included seminars on getting to grips with CAP reform, changes in weed control legislation, how to reduce feed costs through better silage management and utilising home-grown protein.”

Expert speakers

Speakers include leading researchers and technical specialists with years of practical experience and knowledge to draw on. In many cases this is a rare opportunity to hear from speakers tackling the key elements needed for profitable grassland management today.

The seminars are free and will take place next to the Forage Café. Where relevant, attendance confers BASIS, DairyPro and NRoSo points for those registered on these schemes.

Dr. Liz Genever, EBLEX Livestock Specialist encourages farmers to plan the seminars into the day.

“There is so much to learn from attending a trade show such as Grassland UK, and you have to make it count towards your business. These seminars offer impartial advice and great take-home tips for now, and for the future”.

The seminars start at 10am and run in 30-minute sessions until 4pm, and feature a short presentation followed by a question and answer session. A programme can be picked-up at the entrance gates or at the Forage Café. For more information visit www.britishgrassland.com or contact charlotte.evans@britishgrassland.com
