On Wednesday, a study appearing in medical journal the Lancet detailed the discovery of a gene that makes bacteria resistant to a class of last-resort antibiotics, which has been found in humans and livestock animals in China. What is more, there is an apparent link between animal agriculture and the spread of this anti-biotic resistant gene.
