Animal health: Regional Roadshow for SQPs

The annual AMTRA (Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority) CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Regional Roadshow is in full swing – and, says AMTRA Secretary General, Stephen Dawson, it’s giving SQPs across the country the chance to access the latest guidance on important animal health topics

The CPD, which is run in conjunction with AHDA (Animal Health Distributors Association) and is sponsored by Merial, is free to attend. Topics include the latest COWS guidelines on cattle fluke, worming adult dairy cows, flea control for companion animals, pet behaviour and pheromones, and prescribing anthelmintics for grazing animals, as well as updates from AHDA.

“Our regional CPD events are a valuable way for SQPs to widen and reinforce learning,” says Stephen Dawson, “These are practical sessions designed to cover issues SQPs come across every day, but advice changes all the time, so it’s important to make sure customers are getting the latest information.”

“SQPs have to accrue a certain number of CPD points to remain on the SQP register,” continues Stephen Dawson, “but when I speak to SQPs at these events, I am constantly struck by how dedicated they are. Their objective is not simply to get the minimum number of CPD points, they want to be confident they are giving customers reliable advice they can trust,” he concludes.
