Venue: Regional Food Academy, Harper Adams University College
Start Time: 08:30
End Time: 10:30
With the standard rate of landfill tax increasing by £8 per tonne each year from 1 April, 2011 until at least 2014 there has never been a better time to find an alternative solution for food waste disposal.
Anaerobic digestion is widely recognised as the optimum method for the disposal of food waste, not only for its green credentials, but also as a cost effective alternative to landfill. A wide variety of waste streams can be accepted and it is an approved method for the disposal of animal by-products.
The University College’s anaerobic digestion facility will begin accepting waste from May 2011 and businesses who wish to take advantage of this opportunity are invited to attend a breakfast meeting to explore the associated benefits. An introduction to the University College and the technology involved will be provided followed by a networking discussion with the project team.
The event will take place on Tuesday 1 March 2011 from 08:30 to 10:30 in the West Midlands Regional Food Academy located on our main campus near Newport, Shropshire and a Harper Adams locally sourced breakfast will be provided.
Invites have been distributed to many local businesses and authorities, however if you have not received an invite and would like to attend please email Matt Dove mdove@harper-adams.ac.uk or call on 01952 815160.
