Aldi Scotland confirms three-year extension to Scottish pork contract

Aldi Scotland has confirmed a three-year extension to Scottish pork supply through its partnership with Dumfries and Galloway based Browns Food Group.

The extension, which covers fresh primary Scottish pork supply for all 113 of its stores in Scotland, is a testament to Aldi's ongoing commitment to Scottish farmers, with the retailer continuing to promote Scottish-assured meat.

In February, research from the National Farmers Union Scotland (NFUS) 2025-26 ShelfWatch report identified Aldi as the first supermarket to list fresh primary Scottish pork. Aldi also had one of the highest levels of Scottish pork sourcing among supermarkets, at 41%.

Aldi's Scottish pork is sourced from local supplier, Browns Food Group and the range includes a variety of high-quality products, including pork chops, fillet, loin medallions, shoulder steaks, shoulder joints and 5% fat mince.

Alan Leslie, Buying Director, Aldi Scotland, said: "Extending this partnership reflects Aldi's long-term commitment to supporting Scotland's pig producers and delivering high-quality Scottish pork to our customers. We've built a strong and trusted relationship with Browns over the years, and this renewed agreement gives us confidence in the consistency, standards and provenance that the team continues to provide.

"We remain committed to investing in local supply chains and ensuring our customers can continue to access premium, locally sourced pork products for years to come."

Wayne Godfrey, CEO, Browns Food Group, said: "Browns Food Group are very proud of our ongoing Scottish Pork supply into Aldi Scotland. With Aldi's renewed long-term commitment and the roll out of the new Prime Scottish Pork logo across the market, this is the time for Prime Scottish Pork to prosper, with increased consumer recognition and continued loyalty to product quality and provenance. Aldi's new long-term agreement is now reinforcing their steadfast commitment to the Scottish Pork industry."

Tom Gibson, Director of Business Development, Quality Meat Scotland, said: "We strongly welcome Aldi Scotland's renewed commitment to sourcing high standard Scottish Pork through its extended partnership with Browns Food Group. In conjunction with the launch of the new Prime Scottish Pork brand in Aldi stores over the next few months, this presents an exciting opportunity as part of a wider roll out of the new name and refreshed visual identity across Scotland to drive sales of Scottish Pork and future growth for the pig sector in Scotland."

Andrew Connon, NFUS President, said: "We warmly welcome Aldi Scotland's renewed commitment to supporting Scottish pork producers through this extended contract. This is exactly the kind of positive outcome NFU Scotland has been pressing for through our ongoing retailer engagement work, securing stronger commitments to Scottish sourcing and giving confidence to producers at a time of significant pressure for the pig sector. It is encouraging to see constructive engagement from a major retailer translate into tangible support for Scotland's pork industry."
