AHDB Sector Council appointments ratified by levy payers

AHDB Sector Council appointments ratified by levy payers

Levy payers have ratified 10 appointments across AHDB's four Sector Councils, following an open and competitive selection process.

Levy payers were able to vote in each of the sectors for which they pay a levy between Monday, 21 October and Friday, 1 November.

Sector Council members are primarily levy payers from each sector. Vacancies are advertised on the AHDB website, external job boards and the farming press. Applicants then go through a competitive selection process based on their skills and their ability to provide balance across the different levy-paying supply chain elements within each sector. Those selected, are then confirmed through a levy payer ratification vote.

Some councils also have an 'independent' member (i.e. a non-levy payer) who can contribute with additional skills such as finance or sector relevant supply chain experience.

Each Sector Council member will serve for a term of three years, with a maximum of two terms. They will receive £256.25 per day for up to two days a month.

The 10 members ratified are:

  • Beef and Lamb – four
  • Cereals and Oilseeds – one
  • Dairy four
  • Pork – one

A full list of the successful candidates can be found in the table, attached. The voting process was independently managed by a specialist election company – UK Engage.
