Agreena partners with Pinwheel to scale high-integrity carbon removal through regenerative agriculture
Pinwheel, the fast-growing corporate carbon and biodiversity platform, today announces a new partnership with Agreena to expand access to innovative, nature-based carbon-removal approaches grounded in regenerative agriculture.
In the first stage of the partnership, Pinwheel retired 18,000tCo2e of Agreena's verified soil-carbon removal credits on behalf of a major global client. This milestone reflects rising corporate demand for high integrity carbon-removal solutions that deliver measurable climate impact alongside meaningful ecological and community co-benefits.
Agreena's soil-carbon programme represents a new generation of carbon removal, one that not only draws carbon from the atmosphere, but also supports healthier soils, improved water retention, increased biodiversity, and more resilient agricultural systems. These wider co-benefits – prioritised by Pinwheel in a pioneering approach launched at COP26 in Glasgow – make regenerative agriculture a powerful lever in building long-term climate resilience.
Responding to a complex global client brief, Pinwheel and Agreena collaborated closely to examine how Agreena's solution fits into a diverse, robust portfolio for carbon. The resulting carbon-removal credits have now been permanently retired, guaranteeing that the climate the real, traceable benefit cannot be resold or double-counted.
"Carbon removal is entering a new phase, defined by innovation and solutions that deliver far more than emissions reduction alone," said Gavin Sheppard, CEO of Pinwheel. "By partnering with Agreena, we're enabling our customers to invest in approaches that remove carbon while restoring ecosystems and strengthening farming communities. In today's challenging economic environment, businesses are looking for solutions that deliver multiple high-impact sustainability outcomes in a single transaction. That is what projects such as Agreena deliver."
"Scaling regenerative agriculture requires connecting corporate ambition with farm-level reality, " said Simon Haldrup, CEO of Agreena. "By partnering with Pinwheel, we are transforming corporate investment into tangible improvements in soil health, biodiversity, and rural livelihoods."
The carbon-removal market is growing significantly, with organisations seeking high-integrity solutions that pair climate performance with broad environmental and social value. This partnership demonstrates how climate-ambitious companies, supported by platforms like Pinwheel, can play a pivotal role in bringing innovative carbon-removal approaches to scale.
