Additional CPD points on offer at ‘Chlorpyrifos stewardship Say NO to DRIFT’

Farmers, advisors and spray operators visiting LAMMA, 22nd- 23rd January, have the opportunity to earn BASIS and NRoSO points at the chlorpyrifos Say NO to DRIFT stewardship display on the Dow AgroSciences stand.

Visitors to the show can take part in the Knowledge Trail, which has two NRoSO points available and entails visiting the six company stands involved and the completion of a questionnaire. As well as being part of the Knowledge Trail, Say NO to DRIFT also has two additional NRoSO points and two BASIS points available for farmers, spray operators and agronomists to earn.

James Knight of Dow AgroSciences explains that it’s an ideal opportunity for people to engage with the stewardship initiative, whilst contributing to their individual professional development. “LAMMA offers the perfect platform for us to reiterate the importance of using low drift nozzles for all chlorpyrifos applications in order to help preserve this vital insecticide for British farmers,” says James.

To earn CPD points (continuous professional development) at the event, farmers and spray operators are required to visit the Say NO to DRIFT display on the Dow AgroSciences stand (727, Hall 7) and answer questions about the importance of stewardship measures and aspects relating to the application of chlorpyrifos. They will also be required to calculate appropriate nozzle selections for chlorpyrifos applications for their sprayer, taking into account minimum application volume for the insecticide, as well as accounting for best practice.

“It is vital we have high level grower adoption of the stewardship guidelines and use of low drift nozzles to show the whole industry is committed to making this important change for all chlorpyrifos applications today and in the future,” concludes James.
