Entries Now Open for National Commercial Cattle Show at NBA Beef Expo 2026

Top Quality Commercial Cattle from Across the UK Invited to Compete at National Beef Associations' Beef Expo 2026

Entries are now officially open for the National Commercial Cattle Show, which will take place as part of the NBA Beef Expo on Saturday, 30th May 2026, at Melton Mowbray Market – the UK's largest town-centre livestock mart.

Organised by the National Beef Association (NBA), the National Commercial Cattle Show is one of the highlights of the annual Beef Expo, attracting some of the finest commercial cattle from across the UK. The competition is open across ten classes for steers and heifers, culminating in the prestigious Supreme Championship.

This year's event marks a move to Melton Mowbray the UK's largest town-centre livestock mart. And a central location expected to attract entries from all corners of the country. Cattle entries are now being invited and must be submitted online, with numbers capped at 120 head. Once capacity is reached, a waiting list will operate.

Julie Sedgewick, organiser of the NCCS on behalf of the NBA said, "We are delighted to be able to take this event to Melton Mowbray Auction Mart. The National Commercial Cattle Show attracts some of the finest commercial cattle in the UK, and with the venue being so centrally located we are looking forward to seeing entries from across all corners of the country. With numbers capped, we expect entries to come forward online well in advance of the closing date on 27th April."

The 2026 show will be judged by two highly respected and experienced Welsh cattle producers. Glyn Howatson, of Denbigh, North Wales, will judge the Native and Continental classes along with the Supreme Championship. Tracey Jones, of Erwood near Builth Wells, will judge the Baby Beef classes, the Baby Beef Championship and the Young Handlers classes.

The Young Handlers competition, open to competitors aged 14–21, forms part of the livestock section of the event and offers a valuable opportunity for the next generation of cattle producers to demonstrate their skills in the show ring.

The show schedule features ten classes including steers and heifers by native and continental sires, dedicated British Blue and Limousin classes, Baby Beef classes for cattle aged 12 months and under, and the Young Handler class. In addition to the class winners, a special prize rosette will be awarded for the Best Exhibitor Bred Animal in each class.

Entries must be submitted online, and with space limited to the first 120 cattle entered, exhibitors are encouraged to secure their place early.

The closing date for entries is Monday 27th April 2026.

NBA Beef Expo 2026 will take place on Saturday, 30th May 2026 at Melton Mowbray Market.
